Despite the changes in the way we’re all having to work and socialise, life still goes on and that includes the need to move home, however complicated that might seem at the minute.
We know there are various circumstances that may mean you need to look for somewhere new to call home and, whilst it may seem daunting, we can help you to do so safely, locally and as easily and quickly as possible.
Whether you’re thinking about renting or want to buy a place of your own, Smeaton Homes can help you to find a place you can call home, right now – ensuring you stay safe, as well as happy, throughout what can be a stressful process.
To keep you protected and within government guidelines we have put a number of simple but effective procedures in place that will enable you view properties and get a real feel of what they’ll be like to live in, without endangering you, the owner or ourselves.
While social distancing and staying safe at home can make some things hard to do, or even impossible, at Smeaton Homes we’ve come up with some great options to help you carry on moving, without impacting too much on your experience.
360 tours – looking for your home virtually
Try one of our 360 tours – it’s just like taking a look around a potential property but without moving from the comfort or safety of your existing one!
You’ll be able to see in every room, take a look at all the storage space, even see what fittings are currently in place. Trust us to take the hassle out of moving.
We’ve also created accurate floorplans of all our properties so you can get a feel of how any of your existing furniture or belongings might fit in.
Physical (Actual/ On site) viewings
Many people really need to take a look around a potential new home in person and, however fantastic the technology on offer, nothing else would quite suffice. If that includes you, whether that’s a short/long term rental or a property purchase, many of Smeaton Homes’ properties can still be visited for a viewing, safely and within government guidelines.
Our safe viewing process includes the following initiatives:
Call us and find out more about our onsite viewing properties.
See our safety protocol for sales viewings here.

We know that many key workers are finding that their existing accommodation doesn’t work for them, and not everybody has a home they feel safe in. If your present living conditions are no longer tenable for you (and your family), let us help you to find somewhere now that feels just right; somewhere you can relax and live, safe in the knowledge it’s your own space.
We currently have properties available for rental and to purchase across Plymouth, from one bed apartments to family homes. You can view them safely in a number of ways as described above.

Now may not be the easiest time to sell or rent your home or property but whilst we’re all staying safe at home and social distancing, you could start to get your place ready for the future.
Update the paperwork you’ll need to sell or rent your place
Take the opportunity and use time spent at home to dig out and update all the paperwork you’ll need to sell or rent your property – give the Smeaton Home’s team a call to find out what documents you’ll need.
Get DIYing and make your property ready to rent or sell
Take a good, hard look at your place and see where those tired, broken, out-dated areas are that might need a little TLC.
You can make your property more desirable and seem bigger by painting walls and ceilings a fresh, neutral colour. It’ll help viewers to imagine what it would look like when it’s full of their belongings too.
Start to declutter
Now’s the time to get rid of any excess items you haven’t used or looked at for years – box them up for charity or ask about our storage facility.
You could make it a competition if you have children – who can make their bedroom the tidiest or fill two boxes with unwanted toys, books and games perhaps?
If you need professional help start to search for local decorators, builders and electricians, and get some quotes in so when lockdown eases you can get work started quickly.
There’s lots you can do right now – ask Dan and the Smeaton Homes team for some advice – we’re always happy to help.
